The Community Service Committee 10th Annual Nursing Home visit on June 27, 2019 was a success!  We visited Hickory Village Memory Care – A DePaul Senior Living Community located at 427 3rd Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602.  A great big THANK YOU to all who donated!

Quote from the Activities Director, Jessica White:

“What a WONDERDUL day it was when the Catawba Valley Association of Realtors showed up to spend some time with the residents!!!  Along with about 15 smiling faces came an abundance amount of donations for the activity department, a huge bingo game that included over 40 residents, and some yummy ice cream.  Our lovely guests brought along everything needed for the perfect ice cream sundae party even down to the service with a smile!!! The residents were so surprised at all the love and attention from so many people at once. The bingo game prizes was said to be “Our favorite of all time” and one resident even said “It seemed like someone read my mind when they brought me my blanket!”  With lots of laughter and love we had the best day that we could remember ever having here at Hickory Village.

The Catawba Valley Association of Realtors has over 600 members and make it a point to give back to the community each year. They donated everything from socks, soda pop, bingo prizes, sweet treats, blankets, coloring books, word search, and even then pencils to go along with it. Hickory Village is truly blessed to receiver such a huge donation that we have never seen like this before. I am pleased to say that they will be returning this Christmas to make sure our residents are happy at the time of the year that means the most to the residents.

I cannot express how grateful we are to just receive guest that could come to spend a few moments with us in the busy times of today, but the outpouring of love that each member brought with them truly brought a tear to my eyes. Hickory Village would love to send out a huge Thank you for everything that the association has done for our residents. We look forward to seeing them again in the near future.”
